It's 10" tall, 4x4 at the top, and 6x6 at the base. The globes are sealed and there's a metal pan in the center between them. Purchased at an estate sale in eastern US.

The item splits into three pieces but joined by a screw.....the two brass pieces slide back together and lock at the Base of the handle then it would seem you slide the metal ...
