Description: It was made by the Dixon Cutlery Company (Germany) in approximately 1818. The American flag engraved on one side of the knife shows 21 stars and 13 stripes. A Google search result for this flag configuration shows the date to be 1818 to 1819. The engraving was completed by hand and is very intricate and precise. The knife is 2-3/4 “ long and ½” wide, with a thickness of appr. 1/16th”. It shows very little signs of wear. The 4 rivets holding the knife together are still amazingly tight with little to no signs of re-tightening them.
