Description: Received this bayonet as a gift yesterday and am curious about what it is and its authenticity. The closest match I can find is a 1888 mki 1, version 2 bayonet due to the markings on the blade and the cleaning hole behind the second rivet. However, the pommel is much shorter than the picture of ones I see online and the wood feel and looks waxy and I am tempted to think is fake. I have yet to try sanding it down or cleaning anything yet since I would like to keep that as a last resort. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
