Description:

I recently purchased this item at a Thrift Store here in town. It is a 1948 Silvertone Electric Phonograph. The needle is still in it, the player works, as does the sound and is in great condition.
There is cosmetic wear on the outside of the "suitcase" and that is the only damage I can find anywhere. Upon opening up the case to view the labels on the inside of the phonograph (to determine model and make), the Serial Number for this particular piece is "4".
When I put the 12" 33rpm record in the machine and turned it on, it dropped the LP like it's intended to, and the needle went right to the start of the first song. It sounded like the chipmunks obviously, but the speaker in the top of the suitcase works as well as the "Tone" and "Volume" controls, though there is a little scratching in the volume control.
When you flip the "holder" for the LP to the 10" setting, the needle arm goes to where the start of a 10" record would be, so everything seems to work amazingly well for it's age.
I have no idea what this might be worth or if it's even worth getting appraised.
Any help would be appreciated.
