Description:
|
Iron, likely cast iron, fixture attached to door frame in historic home (built 1906) in Grand Rapids, MI.
It looks like the piece used to have a rope running through it, coming out both sides, which then went through two holes drilled in the floor at the bottom of the door frame, into the basement.
The words "Draft/Check" and at the top "Closed" suggest that the piece controlled something, possibly airflow, a furnace door, a door itself, in the basement of the home.
No other identifying numbers or names.
Very interested to find out what this was used for! Thanks!
