Description: I am having trouble identifying this item.

1. It is obviously a gas burner of some kind.
2. The top is marked "W M Crane co NYC" with the number "42" under it.
3. It is made with a cast iron base and burner top, connected together by a copper or brass tube.
4. Is this a standalone item or part of something else?
