Spool Bed Frame w Sacking Bottom

Description: Often referred to as a rope bed, this 3/4 size sacking bottom spool bed has an unusual manner of attaching the side rails to the headboard and footboard. The iron pin on the rails goes into the hole in the corner posts that has iron rods in it. A quarter turn locks the rail in place.

Guessing it is from the mid 19th century as looks to be an improvement on the rails that have a threaded wooden pin that screwed into the corner posts.

Please help me identify this type of joint and any other info that you may have regarding this bed.
