Description: We found a matching pair of these heavy iron items in the roof space of an attic bedroom in Leeds in a house built around 1850. They are each 53 ins/135cm by 21ins/53cm at their widest points. They have decorative floral detail on the centre point and sides. They appear to have perhaps once been painted black. It is likely that this room was once a servant's bedroom so we assumed they might be bed ends, but for the fact that they have a large eyelet hole on an extended prong at each side, and 2 shaped prongs on either side of the base, which suggest they fitted into something else. Any help would be welcome!
