Description: I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this is. It was my great grandmother's, who came from the Cassville, Missouri area. The family once thought it was a "cannon ball," but I don't think it is. It is heavy. It is approximately 3 1/4" across the base. It stands approximately 3 1/4" off of the table. It appears to be cast iron covered by a "skin" of another metal, possibly copper. It is stamped around base, and rings stamped around top. The bottom is concave. I found photos of one just like it. That person is also trying to determine what it is. Thank you very much for any information.
