Description: I am trying to determine whether this Zippo lighter is rare or collectible. If you have any ideas or insights, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I know this is a pre-1937 model because of the "Pat Pending" printed on the bottom of it. It measures 2 and 2/16" tall, 1.5" wide, and .5" deep. It is silver in color. Don't know if it's chrome, steel or some other metal. It has two diagonal grooves on both the top and bottom of both sides. It is a flip-top with a hinge. It has a monogram on it, the letters "JDV," both the border and the letters are gold and the background is black. The monogrammed area is .66" square. It appears to be in good condition, with a few scratches on it, but not deep sratches. There is an unused wick inside the lighting mechanism, but it does appear to have been used because there is minor sooting on the inside of the lid. I do not have any packaging for the lighter; it stands alone.
