There are no marks of any type on this mystery item. Made of strong metal that is only partially smoothed. 5 in tall, the trough is 5 in long and 2 in wide and 2 in deep in center. My guess is Colonial era and that the 2 prongs helped stabilize a cake of fat that would burn for light or other reason ? It would also help to know how rare it might be and what it is worth.
