Description:
|
I'm a heavy equipment operator and we were doing a job at Yorktown Beach in Yorktown, VA. Which, for those that don't know, are all battlegrounds. The Revolutionary War, as well as a portion of the Civil War was fought here. There are still original bunkers, canons, etc., that were all used in said wars. Long story short, while digging with a machine one day, I see this sticking out of the ground, about 4ft deep in the ground, and I've had it ever since! I'm wondering if this is a reinactment sword, or if it was actually issued to a real soldier?! The ONE thing that makes me think it may be real, is the fact that it was sharpened at one time, unlike the unsharpened reinactment swords I've seen. Any help identifying would be greatly appreciated, I'll keep my fingers crossed! Feel free to text or email me, if you have any info. Phone 757-849-2545 or email shotnva777@gmail.com
Here are the specs of the sword...
34.5" length (from end of handle to tip of blade)
1" wide
1/8" thick blade
3.25" handle length
